Summer

What else do you need in summer other than a beach and the crashing waves of the Gulf of Mexico? Summer along the Gulf Coast of Alabama is perfect for those wanting to unwind and relax in the water. Enjoy the long summer days here where you can spend each evening basking in the sun, or stop at one of the many beach restaurants for cocktails as the sun goes down. You may experience a rain shower or two, both they typically don't last long -- just enough to rinse off the sand from your day on the beach!

Fall

While much of the country is watching the leaves change and fall to the ground, our palm trees are keeping their lush, tropical green color. Fall is a great time of the year to visit because the Gulf of Mexico is still warm and the temperatures aren't nearly as hot and humid. Fall is the perfect time of the year for fishing, birdwatching, boating, and wildlife viewing.

Fall is also a big time of the year for events! The annual Oyster Cook-Off, National Shrimp Festival, the Alabama Coastal BirdFest, the Alabama Coastal Triathlon, and the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club Invitational takes place during the fall.

We trade fluffy white snow with sugar sand in the winter, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Winter along the coast of Alabama boasts mild temperatures perfect for spending outdoors. While winter is a busy time for visitors, it's typically quiet and laid back. Most restaurants will remain open or with shorter hours, but some will close for the season entirely. It's the perfect time of the year to explore the area's nature at the Fort Morgan Historic Site or Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge.

Spring

Spring is one of the best times to visit Gulf Shores because the weather is near perfect while the rest of the country is still dealing with cold and dreary weather. March is typically a popular time of the spring for college students, but there are plenty of ways to avoid that crowd.

The weather begins to warm up enough to spend a day out on the beach or by the pool, but it cools off at night so be sure to bring a sweater along.
